Hi There,
I'm currently looking into a MXT-7-180A from 1997 with a fixed pitch prop.
I flew it and it seems pretty nice!
It is a pity that the payload is so much less than the TW version of it.

Further, I realise on Jeremy's website the big difference in t/o difference between the 180A and the 180 - where does it come from? Is it the CS prop that makes such a difference?

On this one is a Sensenich 76EM8S5-O-60 installed. Are there any good options in order to improve performance?

Are there any specialities that I'd have to have a closer look at before buying - as per your experience?

Thanks for your help,
Chris

I bought an 1998 MXT 180A and Converted it to a MXT-180 (CS) when it was time for Engine rebuild.

T/O is much shorter and I am very pleased with the performance! I went with the MT prop and it spins up really quick.

Insurance for many is Half on the A version vs the tail dagger.

Spinner backing plate on the fixed pitch model has known cracking issues and is no longer made by Sensenich.

With a full IFR panel I have 1551 Empty and a Gross of 2500 for a 949 max payload.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot.
That’s what I expected with the CS prop. The one I’m looking into - and one of the very few for sale in Europe - has basically a freshly overhauled engine since last year and hence I wouldn’t replace the engine in the near future.

Still, the takeoff distance was pretty short, but I didn’t measure it seriously..

About the payload - think I’ll have to weight it at some point soon, can’t believe that there is not more payload possible..

But first I see to make up my mind about whether to buy it or not Wink

Thanks!

the difference in the useful load is attributable to the spring landing gear vs. the oleo, not the prop difference.

All Right - thank you very much for the interesting infos.
I bought it and I can pick it up in 1-2 weeks.
I think in this case, the weight is ok and within the envelope.

Just in case someone would be around in Germany, I'll be based in EDFE...
