M4 220 seaplane prop

Post by Kelly »

Hello. I'm a new m4 owner. Picked it up this spring. I'm not really impressed with the take off and climb performance. I have a new over hauled 2a34c22-nd..s84sf-6 installed on it now. It cranks up the full 2800 rpm and pulls ok but of course I'm looking for more! Is the c201 the way to go?

Thanks

Definitely on the C201! I had a 78" c21 on my M-4 when it was rebuilt and while the takeoff/climb performance was definitely adequate (still much better than a 4 cylinder stock Maule) I too was looking for more. Replaced it with a new 82" C-201 and WOW. I've been flying a friends M-5-220C with the c201 as well and it climbs better than the M-5-235C that I did a bunch of running around in last year.

Thanks guys. Clearance wouldn't be an issue I'd only use that prop on floats. I'll keep my 22 for ski flying.

Anyone have any leads on a 201?
