Any interest in a Springtime PACNW Puget Sound Maule Fly-in?

Post by flyusn99 »

Ladies and Gents,
I was pondering if there would be any interest in a Maule-Fly in to Oak Harbor (KOKH) sometime in May of this coming year once the weather improves?
I was thinking of a morning fly in on a Saturday, maybe a few hours to make introductions and talk Maules then maybe head over to Port Townsend (Jefferson County, 0S9) for some lunch at the Spruce Goose then come back over to Oak Harbor and I could get anyone interested a tour of our Naval Air Station, (MH-60S SAR Helo, EA-18G Electronic Jammers and P-3 Patrol Planes. Afterwards maybe head over to Concrete (Mears Field) or one of the smaller grass strips up by the border. Thoughts? Interest? If so let me know and I can start the planning and coordinating.

I'd be very interested but I'm VFR only so it would be weather dependant for me crossing the Cascades and Puget Sound.

We might want to think about Point Roberts as well, but that may be a field too far.

PACNW Maule Fly-In

SURE...We don't need much of an excuse to go flying and this sounds like a great idea. Will put it on the calendar as soon as you do.
Thanks

Count me in. I'm always in the mood to meet more Maule pilots and see their planes! I'm just bummed that I didn't get to fly with you while your plane was still on floats.

Great sounds like there are at least a few who are up for a fly-in. I talked with our base PAO and there should be no problem getting 10-15 people base access. Even our Canadian brethren can take the tour (all you'll need is a passport). If everyone's interest is just in static aircraft we can do that whenever. If everyone wants to go see Aviation Physiology (IE Water Survival aka the helo dunker, that we'll have to do on a Friday). I'm still exploring the possibility of getting access to the P-3 and EA-18G simulators but no promises there.
If anyone has any particular item that they'd be interested in seeing let me know and I'll see what I can swing.
I'll keep this thread alive from time to time between now and the get-together, I figure I'll poll everyone in early April for a time that works for everyone sometime in May.

I've been longing for a chance to meet the washington and lower mainland BC area Maulophiles. I best get on the passport thing straight away. I'd love to be there. Maybe one or 2 other AB guys can be cajoled. . . .
Nick? Guy?
