Seatbelt purchase

Hi Everyone,

I have an 1997 MT7-235, my dog chewed through my rear passenger seat belts. Maule wants $400.00 each :evil: , anybody know where I can get a pair of these cheaper? Thanks.

I replaced my front lap belts from a 1966 m-4 a few years ago with a shoulder harness ones. I have the stock front lapbelts in a bag hanging in my hanger If that would do you any good.

Paul, you may have issues with your flying budget but I do take exception to Maule being called "evil"

Perhaps you should trade in for some other aircraft make.

I am assuming those are three point belts, if so that sounds about what the front belts cost as well.

Dog ate both????

Maybe dog doesn't like flying all that much.

Maule seatbelt prices are about the same as from the manufacturer for those certified.
A cheaper place to get them is from a breakers yard, though they may have been compromised, by an accident, by wear of metal attach points and/or the retract system.
The retract unit is a wear item itself and should be checked at annual for full function, this is not done from full retract position, but from normal extension position.
Some belts from desert climes have had the stitching exposed to the UV.
Front and rear belts have different part numbers according to required free length.

I purchased the Maule shoulder harness kit for my 1975 M5-210C. I can not figure any way to mount the right side bracket that does not interfer with either the flap cable or the aileron cables. Its the bolt on shoulder harness kit. Anybody have any suggestions?

the inner portion of the belt fastens on the inboard bolt of the seat truss at the floor.
The outboard lower portion of the belt fastens with the bolt that holds the tiedown in rear and is just aft of the outboard lower truss attach.
the inertia real end fastens to a threaded barrel welded to top of the door post and found behind the headliner.
This is for a 3 point system and should not be any where near flap or aileron cables.

You are talking about the clamp-on overhead brackets I assume?

I am talking about the 4 point harness with the bolt on brackets that attach to the horizontal tube under the headliner.

At my last annual there was an issue with one of the belts fraying so the belt and buckle and metal attachment were sent off to a belt shop...I believe in NY state where they sewed on a new one and sent approprirate paperwork back.

I will look and find the price of this and the name if interested. I know it was less than $400.

The large bracket for the 4 point belt system can be mounted slightly tipped and the bolt heads at rear and nuts forward to get a bit more room.
Check the cable pulleys for wear and the cable routing through the phenolic blocks which incorrect could set the cables too far forward thus fouling the seatbelt bracket.
