Is there an STC for the gullwing-type seaplane doors?

I'm also tempted by the seaplane doors, but I fly in a lot of cold/wet conditions. Have people had good luck with sealing the seaplane doors, or are they pretty much always drafty (especially at the front edge)?

I'd like to get in on that as well. At have drawings and photos.
You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!

I like the seaplane doors as they make entry/egress much easier. Also, in the event of an off-field landing you can get out of the door if you lose a strut and the wing falls. That safety feature alone sold me.

They probably are draftier than conventional doors but having only had the seaplane doors I couldn't say for sure. The door edge is bent down toward the fuselage on three sides (hinge at the top). Foam weatherstripping affixed to the door perimeter to form the seal.

Was Maule MODS the only one installing them?

One of the early sets was fitted on an M5 in AK many years before being copied by M Mods.

How do we get it done?
The gull-wing would be so useful on floats. Now, it's hard to get out, then get to the front of the float quickly since the factory door hits the strut.

You could do what I have done on a number of occasions. Do a face first arrival on the dock when hooking a foot trying to get out around the standard door.

I don't have a dock, so it's usually face first into the water which is a little softer, but up here very cold!!!
