Headliner zipper maintenence

Post by Bob Leve »

I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I should put on the zippers in the headliner to keep them working well and not ripping out. How often should that be done.

Thanks

White lithium grease - should be available at your local Ace store. I do it once a year.

Spray silicone. Clean and works good in cold weather too.

Take your standard pencil and run it up and down the back side (so you cant see the marks) or on the face of the teeth and it will be lubed well (graphite) 8)

wax, as in a piece of a candle etc works well and won't stain or attract dirt.

Now you've got them all.

Chapstick does work great for the friction adjustment on the collective of Hughes helicopters, even the AH-64 :D

You could find a bee and squeeze the wax out of it. I'm an A&P and we use silicone on anything. Look up Aerokroil from Kano Labs. The best.
