finger pinching seat

Post by owings »

I recently had a problem with the right front seat. We were just about to take the runway when my passenger wanted to move the seat back. I told him where the release was and second later he was screaming in pain with pinched fingers. I didn't have the strength to push the seat forward so I shut down and ran to the rear door and pushed the seat forward to release his fingers. Nothing broken but badly smashed and cut. In doing a little investigation I found the seat spring had been removed by a previous owner or mechanic. I put in a spring and will now caution passengers to use caution in adjusting the seat. Good thing it didn't happen in flight.[/u][/i][/b]

I always instruct seat adjustment be done the outboard hand gripping the windshield cross brace and the inboard hand moving the catch after tension is taken off the catch by pulling on the brace a little.
