parking brake cable

Post by hindsbru »

I'm new to maule flying and was told to check my parking brake cable, the short one that goes between the pedals. On older aircraft the "looped" cable can be too short causing brakes to be applied when full rudder is applied.
I have found no 337s or STCs for this replacement....
does anyone have any knowledge of this?

If the brake bridle is adjusted correctly it is not a problem, however if other items are worked on in the vicinity it can be affected. Make sure the resevoir filler plugs are properly seated after top up. make sure the cable doesn't get twisted during adjustment.
Primarily, during GUMPS, 'U' is for undercarriage and should include brake check. Do not check brakes only once as this may set the brake, especially if the pull knob has been mistaken for heat or vent. Press both brakes a second time to make sure they have some give and are not hard, as in locked.
