Mauley Christmas Everyone!

Post by SkyMaule »

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and a prosperous and safe 2010. I trust that your stockings will be full of fat tires, avionics, vortex generators, aileron gap seals, guns, knives, and other manly things. And I pray that we all fly safe enough to be here at this time next year. Blessings

Mark,
Sorry if I seem a little pissed, but I though my Christmas wish list was in a sealed envelope only to be see by the big guy! It appears that you have gotten hold of it. You and everyone on the site, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :D

Merry Christmas to my pilot friends!

The Night Before Christmas (aviation style)

Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp,

Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ.

The aircraft were fastened to tie downs with care,

In hopes that come morning, they all would be there.

The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots,

With gusts from two-forty at 39 knots.

I slumped at the fuel desk, now finally caught up,

And settled down comfortably, resting my butt.

When the radio lit up with noise and with chatter,

I turned up the scanner to see what was the matter.

A voice clearly heard over static and snow,

Called for clearance to land at the airport below.

He barked his transmission so lively and quick,

I'd have sworn th at the call sign he used was "St. Nick".

I ran to the panel to turn up the lights,

The better to welcome this magical flight.

He called his position, no room for denial,

"St. Nicholas One, turnin left onto final.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a Rutan-built sleigh, with eight Rotax Reindeer!!

With vectors to final, down the glideslope he came,

As he passed all fixes, he called them by name.

"Now Ringo! Now Tolga! Now Trini and Bacun! On Comet! On Cupid!

What pills was he takin?

While controllers were sittin, and scratchin their head,

They phoned to my office, and I heard it with dread.

The message they left was both urgent and dour,

"When Santa pulls in, have him please call the tower.

" He landed like silk, with the sled runners sparking,

Then I heard "Left at Charlie" and "Taxi to parking."

He slowed to a taxi, turned off of three-oh,

And stopped on the ramp with a "HO, ho-ho-ho..."

He stepped out of the sleigh, but before he could talk,

I ran out to meet him with my best set of chocks.

His red helmet and goggles were covered with frost,

And his beard was all blackened from Reindeer exhaust.

His breath smelled like peppermint, gone slightly stale,

And he puffed on a pipe, but he didn't inhale.

His cheeks were all rosy and jiggled like jelly,

His boots were as black as a crop dusters belly.

He was chubby and plump, in his suit of bright red,

And he asked me to "fill it, with hundred low-lead."

He came dashing in from the snow-covered pump,

I knew he was anxious for drainin' the sump.

I spoke not a word, but went straight to my work,

And I filled up the sleigh, but I spilled like a jerk.

He came out of the restroom, and sighed in relief,

Then he picked up a phone for a Flight Service brief.

And I thought as he silently scribed in his log,

These reindeer could land in an eighth-mile fog.

He completed his pre-flight, from the front to the rear,

Then he put on his headset, and I heard him yell "Clear!!"

And laying a finger on his push-to-talk,

He called up the tower for clearance and squawk.

"Take taxiway Charlie, the southbound direction,

Turn right three-two-zero at pilots discretion".

He sped down the runway, the best of the best,

"Your traffics a Grumman, inbound from the west."

Then I heard him proclaim, as he climbed thru the night,

Merry Christmas to all!! I have traffic in sight."

Kind of late now... I'll let you know if Santa Delivered.... Mine is tumbling and it's the original.. It warms up and settles down by the time I take off so it isn't a pressing priority.... Any way as you know my Maule repairs itself.... If you remember my Starter problem which hasn't reoccured now for 5 or six months...I could have it rebuilt but I'd rather have a new one..

Merry Christmas from Spokane

Merry Christmas Maule Pilots,
Took a little time this Christmas Eve morning to do a little flying with my son. Nice to see some sunshine this time of year. We landed in a frozen wheat field.

Christmas Eve

Post by Stefan »

Talking about Christmas presents I'd like to introduce myself, the lucky guy who got his purchase contract signed right after Church on Christmas eve.

My newly aquired M-7-235C is currently still in Moultrie and will get some little tweaks done, prior to bringing the beauty to Germany early next year. It will ultimately reside south of Munich and next to the Alps. For now we have a somewhat unusual Christmas Tree with a picture of the Maule in between all the other decoration... yet this might not be so unusual on this forum?

Merry Christmas to everybody

Stefan

I got my wish.
I flew into Anchorage to pick up my Daughter whom I haven't seen since May when she went away for school. If any of you have Teenage daughters, you'll know that the relationship can be ah, a little strained. We had lunch and returned to the plane for the 15 minute flight home when she asked how much fuel I had onboard, "Three hours and every minute is at your disposal." She asked if we could spend some time in the mountains. A couple hours later we returned from Prince Willaim Sound, the Chugach and Talkeetna's. Why I didn't top off before I left to get her!? Neither one of us wanted the flight to end, not a word said except for a big hug and thank you from her once back home. My little girl is home again.
Live it like its your last day.
