Hey all,
Just wanted to say that I just closed on an '81 M-6-235 currently residing in ND. Once the local shop gets the Uavionix ADSB in/out gear and AV30s installed I'm going to fly out to bring her home to Oakland, CA. This is my first Maule and my first single owner plane so hopefully I know what I'm doing. If there are any other Maule owners in the area (or even if you aren't) feel free to ping me. The adventure begins!
Cheers

Congrats, you gonna love her. I picked up my 89 M6-235 earlier this year in Georgia and flew her home to Los Angeles.
Doing the same thing as you and installing a new 345 transponder, radio 2, audio panel and 2x Av30 in June.
Let me know if you are ever around, im doing a lot of trips up and down the coast so it would be awesome to go fly together.

Thanks all.
Andy, I've been lurking around for a while soaking up all the great info for when I was looking for a Maule to buy. This site has been a great resource for me.
Robert I'll definitely give you a ping when I head down that way once I finally get my plane. I've been trying to get this purchase done since January, seems like every bit of paperwork has had a delay but I think we're in the home stretch. I'm going to fly the crap out of this plane once I get it back here!

Love it, there are some cool places to land for us here in California thats for sure.
Let me know if you have any questions, i did a good amount of training over at Maule in Georgia with their test pilot and learned so much from it.

Not to hijack, but I'm taking my m5 to the San Fran area and North to Oregon. What are the cool areas to land that you speak of? I'll make a detour!

If you want to visit San Francisco (watch out for poop) then landing at Oakland is probably your best airport for a stopover. It's pretty close to SF and there's a huge car rental terminal close to the FBO but I hear the overnight fees are a bit high. If you go East to the Sierra foothills Columbia is a great little airport where you can camp and walk into town, I highly recommend Columbia Frosty. If you are looking for a breakfast/lunch stop on your way North try Willows-Glenn County and eat at Nancy's Cafe on the airport, it's excellent diner food! There are a bunch of others, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, South Lake Tahoe, etc. It thins out a bit as you go North from the Bay Area but tons of interesting places up there as well.
Good luck on the flight.
