This year AIG through CS&A Insurance (broker) charged me $2903 for $1M/$100K liability and $120K hull coverage. I consider myself lucky that they are still insuring me at 77 with: 3000 total time, 1800 in my Maule, 2418 tailwheel, Commercial ASEL/ASES/AMEL/Instrument/Rotorcraft-Helicopter. About $300 is the broker fee but that's the only way to get to AIG. By far the largest element of the premium is the hull insurance at $2237.

Just read about and tried a new Foreflight insurance comparison product. If you have a Foreflight account and log onto Foreflight Web, there's an "Insurance" link on the left side of the page. You upload your policy as a PDF file and enter some data about your flight hours, age and whether the aircraft is hangared. Then you get a range of insurance premiums and where yours fits in. Mine is at the lower end so I'm getting a good deal. Check it out for yourself.

Nice! The reviews of my policy show I'm only getting a "Fair" price. I may need to dig deeper next fall at renewal.
