Washington State DOT operates a bunch of strips in the Cascade Mountains. These strips are typically closed from the end of September until June 1st. Several opened early this year due to favorable conditions. 5 planes (with 2 Maules) took advantage of the early opening to fly-in to Skykomish and walk into town for lunch before the craziness of Memorial Day Weekend began.
