Replacement standard fuel gauge...

Post by Joe-FBS »

...for a 1994 MXT-7-180.

One of ours has died and Maule cannot source a replacement. They have offered to try to repair it which involves shipping it from here in the UK. Does anyone happen to know please where such a gauge might be found? The aeroplane is on G registration so an airworthiness release is required (8130 in FAA speak, Form 1 in CAA or EASA speak).

Yes, thank you, :) I know that these old fuel measuring systems are rubbish and that we should put something new and electronic in it but that is unlikely to get a positive vote in the ownership group, least of all from me.

For myself, I rely on looking in the tank before flight and doing arithmetic in my head (plus at age fifty-six neither my muscles nor my bladder want to fly for more than half the full tank endurance of the aeroplane anyway :D ) I don't believe the gauges in any case but not all of my fellow owners feel the same so as group technical body I am trying to get it fixed.

Thanks
Joe

I don't need mine as I've gone full EFIS.
I don't have any kind of paper work, nor I know for sure they are working.
But can easily ship you from continental Europe.

JoeFBS,
I am replacing my functional fuel gauges and senders this fall in favour of an enigine monitor kit that requires new senders.
I may be able to get my AME to sign off as “removed serviceable”, but that’s about all I can offer. They work about as well as they did on this 1976 M5 when it was new😃.

Hi Carl, and /or Freedom, Are you going sell/dispose of the senders. If correct type I might be interested 7zero7four77four27seven
Stewart Warner has pressed steel housing. Rochester has a cast housing.

Hi Jeremy,

This should provide a bit of a clue which brand the senders are.🙂
The gaskets, I think, are near the end, but still keep the fuel inside the tank.

Thankyou Carl, from the picture I think those are Stewart Warner. I was looking for Rochester which is slightly bigger diameter I think and Rochester is a casting whereas SW is steel. Ill measure next time at hangar. There is a difference in float arm length between main and aux tank senders too.
