Re: 1st Back County!
Thanks!
Pretty stoked. Already pulled lots of info from this site, sure there will be tons more. As with everything, you are always learning.
Like most, it has been a dream of mine for ever. Glad to finally get there.
I am based in Girdwood. If you see me out and about come say hi.

My wife and I took a ride in a Robinson R44 with Alpine Air Alaska out of Girdwood in 2008. We toured the Prince William Sound area and landed on a basalt rock in front of one of the calving glaciers. I probably could not have landed my Maule there.

Congratulations
The Maule will take you to the coolest places.
As they say, "You now have a license to learn."

Congrats and welcome!
Not sure what all that white stuff is on the ground.
Good looking plane, enjoy the journey.

Re: 1st Back County!
Had to re-rig the skis due to extended gear & was given a tail ski two days ago. Got out yesterday! First ski landings, a little flat light but not too bad after the first run out.
Enjoying winter.
Dang. I need to get that “super cruiser” some wing rockets or something. His cruise is dang near my flap range. It was only a 16 minute flight but he took an extra 10 minutes.

Nice photos! I know what you mean about throttling back. I flew my MX-7-180 with a couple of J-5s to a cornfield landing in the mountains. I had to use a notch of flaps and throttle back to 18" MP to fly slow enough to stay with them.

That belly pod isn't going to help his speed either.
Those skis look super fun. I've never done it. Also don't live where there is enough snow to try it. Maybe someday.
