The field was a few miles off the Red River, of course the sand bars were on the Red. Sadly I forgot my SD cards for the GoPro. Was windy as all hell, hoping this coming weekend is a bit better.
Paced off all my landings, shortest was about 195ft give or take. You can see my foot prints in the sand. The rest of my landings were in the 250-300ft range. Bars were long, but practicing short is so much fun.

Went again today with Andrew and his M5. This time we got plenty of video of both planes, even some hydroplaning. I’m working on getting video edited for consumption but might be a few days or more. I’m going to skip flying this coming weekend and do some cleaning instead. But I will try to post the next time I’m going out.

It’s pretty tame. The spot seen in the video is north, north west of Gainesville Tx. There are some smaller bars for sure, but these are great for having a bit of fun and relaxing. Be sure to overfly once or twice to be sure the area is clear and the sand is smooth enough. There are some jumps hidden here and there if you aren’t looking. The dark wet spots are hard packed but rough, the top layer in some spots is mud and slippery as all hell even on foot. The dryer looking spots are pretty forgiving but might not like little tires as much.
