I have a set of carbon floorboards boards coming. Curious to what others are using, if anything, for covering? Any ideas?

Nothing. I hear these are junk. Send them to me and I will dispose of them in an environmentally appropriate manner... LOL!

CF is pretty slick and I have thought about this very thing. Thought about something like this:

It is kind of fragile and would be hard to clean though.

Haahaa!

Thats a good idea. I was thinking something more permanent like an adhesive vinyl or maybe a vinyl piece that snaps in. I dunno. I was thinking they are pretty slippery though

I am using an aircraft flooring vinyl with penny shaped rased circles embossed on it. I glued it on to the 1/4 in CF Nomex honeycomb sandwich floorboards with vinyl cement that the vinyl manufacturer sells. The vinyl flooring comes in lots of colors, is tough at nails, lightweight, and waterproof. If your interested message me and I'll look up the supplier information.

If lighter is the need, why cover with anything?

I can't speak for anyone but my self. I want lightweight and tough. The CF board is very lightweight but not abrasion resistant, the vinyl floor covering is thin, lightweight, and very abrasion-resistant. In my opinion, they are better together.

what is the weight savings between the CF with Vinyl flooring and the standard flooring? I have been thinking about doing this but have not seen any numbers to justify the expense.

10 pound savings. Plus im tired of trying to get the dirt out of the carpet.

Interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed that my carpeted plywood floors even weigh 10 pounds total, just based on how they feel when I remove them. Have to weigh them next time they’re out.

For the record, i have not personally weighed them. That is what randy at carbon concepts told me.

My originals were 3/8" plywood. I bet they were closer to 20lbs with carpet.

How are the carbon fiber floorboards in the winter? My cabin is pretty comfortable with the carpet covered plywood even in pretty cold weather.

Ah. Mine are a lot thinner than that; 3/16â€￾, I think. Explains why they are so light.

Changed out my plain plywood floor 21.5lbs with Carbon Fiber from Randy and the new floor weighs 10lbs. Material from Randy was a little over $600.
