EDO 2960 Floats

Post by n1264d »

Anyone have any experience flying the Maule on EDO 2960 floats? I saw Kenmore had the STC and was wondering what kind of performance we can be looking at. I have an M6-235. Originally I was thinking of going with the Aqua 2400's but wanted some opinions. Kenmore Air wants $9000 for the STC alone. Seems a bit high when other floats are on the original type certificate, but what do I know. I just want a floatplane for fun now and possibly some part 135 in the future.

The rule of thumb is each float should carry your airplane's max gross.

With the 2400 Aquas M5-M6 with the upgross kit are a bit under floated, but unlessthe Kenmore/EDO STC gets you some major max gross improvement on floats the 2960's seem to be a shade on the large size.

The good news is you will ride higher in the water, the bad news is you have to haul the extra aluminum with you.

Don't know anything about the floats.

You may want to go to the Seaplane Pilots site http://www.seaplanes.org/ and ask the question in their forum.
