Maules used for crop dusting

Post by DeltaRomeo »

I searched the parts DVD, the web, and this forum for images of Maules used in agricultural spraying to see what the rig looks like and how it was attached to the aircraft. No success.

Any one here know of a resource you can point me to?

Sorasen (sp) had a rig at one time. They used to bring it to the ag expo that is held here every year. I'm not sure if they are still in business though. Shirley may have a picture of one somewhere. I'll look around this afternoon.

Somewhere deep in a box of pictures I have photos of M5-235 with a Sorensen belly tank and spraybars mounted. There were 3 sizes of tanks.
I bought an M6 from a farmer/operater in Missouri I think.
He had a Sorensen tank for liquids but also pods mounted under the strut to wing attach point each side for dusting.

Yep, Shirley has a picture of one. I don't know how to post pics here, but if you'll PM me your phone number, I got a pic of the pic. Didn't come out too bad. It'll give you an idea of how its set up.

Duane;

Have a look at this thread:

http://maulepilots.org/forums/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

There is a pretty good step by step outline for using Imgur.com in this thread.

Just copy the picture Shirley gave you in a *.jpg format and go from there.

BTW, who doesn't have a Hawaiian shirt?? They hide a world of BBQ and beer results. 8)

Ok, guess I can go take it out of the frame and scan it. I did it the cheap way and just took a pic of it.

That works too. If the picture is good and in .jpg format on your phone ( which it probably is) you are good to go. Just sign up on Imgur and follow the instructions to upload the file. Then you can post it as in the link.

Wow. That thing has a lot of nozzles! With that kind if discharge rate I suspect you wouldn't be able to carry more than a couple passes before its time to go back and fill again. Does that require an STC to use it?

I'm sure it does as we don't have anything on our TCDS.

The replies here allowed me some better keyword searches that resulted in this:

The Sorenson links are no good. Coming up on a bunch of field spraying and the wife came up with the idea, and I liked it. Probably not going to happen this season though.
