VHF Comm Antenna Placement?

Hi everyone,
Looking for some info. I currently have one comm antenna mounted on the belly just in front of the gear oleo's.
I would like to remove it and put dual comm antenna's on the wings located near the upper inspection hole, back 1/3rd of the chord. I think that is the location on newer Maule's.
Is this doable and is there a doubler plate for reinforcing?
Getting ready for upgrading too dual Nav/Comm's.
