Maule - New Door Latch System and Swing Out Window with Gas
Did anyone make or modify the door closures and the opening of the side windows as shown in the following video?

A lot of detail in this thread:

Haven't done it myself. I keep finding other ways to spend money.

I have done both the swing out window and new door latch on my M5. The door latch is not that hard. The keyhole needs to be moved so you my want to reskin the door which means paint also. The windows require some welding. I like both the mods and worth the effort. Maule mech had a post that I followed to get the job done. It took me about 50 hour total to do both doors and windows. I’m sure it can be done a lot faster but I enjoyed the work. I also added a lower window in the main doors there are some pictures some where on this site. I’ll put some up when I get home.

I hope this works should be a picture of my door before I covered the interior[/img]
The link Kirk has shows most of my upgrade.

Perfect
The link link works and thanks for these photos
It does not seem insurmountable
Does new type of closure bring a real plus ....
For the moment with the original closures despite many adjustments, my doors tend to this unlocked
The only problem is Maule
I asked if the kit existed and was available with the price
still waiting despite two reminders .......

I did the latch upgrade and it is my favorite addition to the plane so far!! would never have one without it.
I did cheat a bit however, I live on a lake in the middle of nowhere so the lock feature is not important to me. I cut the back off the lock so it would fit in the hole and look stock from the outside, it does not however lock anything.
the whole install for all 3 door latches and window replacement ( I already have the swing out windows) took about 6 hours and was easy.
the biggest thing I notice now is the lack of slamming of doors and having to explain how the door catch works 6 times to every passenger!! My wife was always worried that if we ended up inverted that she would never be able to get the door open, I fly mostly on floats.
my 2 cents

It's not as if airplane locks are of any value anyways.
I've had smart people in my plane. PhD's, MD's, engineers etc. I expalin the door latch to them and the rarely figure it out. Some unscrew the knob... Not sure what they expect from that activity.

And let's face it, I wouldn't feel like a Maule if the doors fitted and closed like a Rolls-Royce.
