Servo tab

Post by RT »

I have an M4-180c project that has had the rudder servo tab area covered over. There is no documentation of this modification. It seems like it would be a lot easier to leave it as is than try to put one on.
Has anyone got documentation for doing this? A 337 field approval or a letter from Maule or whatever it takes to make it legal.

I have heard that a few planes (maybe 5) have left the factory like that, so maybe it is on the T.C.? Or perhaps i am wrong....
I can't remember if I fired six shots, or only five.....

There were about 10 M4 180V's made for the trainer market that also did not have the cargo door.

That didn't take as long as I thought it would. The rudder tab is required on all M-4's according to our TC. It would have to be done under a 337 or field approval.

Pilot, The 5 aircraft you reference without the servo tab were the first 5 M7 in 1984 which had instead a bungee direct rudder/aileron interconnect.
