Shoulder Harnesses

Post by Redhawk »

Makes total sense. The fewer the links, the fewer the chances for a weak link.
I would think the width of the webbing would adequately distribute the force...
Tailwinds and clear skies for your trip yonder!

Thanks. Was supposed to leave today. Made the call at about 1300 local to delay to tomorrow. An hour later, it was obvious that I should have left. Oh well. Supposed to be even nicer tomorrow.

It's on my to do list. Just a thought. The intertia reals make reaching the flap handle easier.

FWIW, the p/n for the front Davis belts on my M6 is FDC-6400-566-4-080. Bet all retract model are the same.

Shoulder Harness mod solved for M4

Post by Redhawk »

I purchased 2 "rear shoulder harness mounting brackets" from Univair as well as 2 inertia reel shoulder harness/lap belts from them. The brackets are made by Atlee Dodge. The mounting brackets are the 5/8" ID size for clamping on the 2 diagonal tubes above/behind the pilot/ co-pilot heads, and the belts angle down perfectly thru the forward headliner zipper. The inertia reel belts were $390 each and the brackets were $135 each. Whole installation for under a 1000.00. I had to special order the 5/8 brackets in exchange from Atlee as Univair only has the 7/8" size.
Works great and is the cheapest inertia system I could find.
I am using AC 23-17C as my guidance. ("Minor Change- log book entry")
Feel much safer with shoulder harnesses now. I think it is money well spent!

Thanks. Dan

Me too! If you can't get them posted, maybe you could send them to someone that can?

Take 1
NTSB:
"He died when his head hit the panel..."
FAA:
Yep, that's sad"

Take 2
NTSB:
"That seat harness saved him from certain death by hitting the panel."
FAA:
"Yep, but we are going to nail him for an unapproved harness installation."

Just sayin...
