Alot of MauleMods work was questionable and done without paperwork.
A metal belly often has more problems than fabric and of course weighs more. The rear triangular section is an advantage if you have an Stec servo. The most forward section as far as the oleo attach can also be helpful but it is difficult to keep rain from entering at the edges.

If tabs to secure panels to fuselage welded on or any other welding done to facilitate mod it will require a field approval which should be relatively easy as this is non-stuctural.... I agree with Jeremy in that the aft and fwd panels are really the only ones that provide access to anything worthwhile?

metal belly
I purchased a M4 fuselage and it had the rear section of metal belly. I have lots of pics I'll try posting. The only thing I dont like about it, is that the way the fabric attaches and doesn't wrap around anything. It just glues to the bottom of that flat piece of 1" wide channel steel that the aluminum sheet slips into.

I would like to do the Rear triangular belly panel since I have the STEC 30 Autopilot. Is Maule Mod still around.
