MX7-180B Power Settings

Post by Gearjerker »

Hi All...

New to the board and to Maules... I'm trying to find a cruise power setting chart for the O-360 with the Hartzell constant speed prop. I'm sure someone on here has come up with one but in my searching I've been unable to turn it up.

If you are just looking for power settings charts start here:

http://www.meyette.us/LycomingEngineNumbers.htm

Find what aircraft have a similar engine/prop combination, then do a web search for power settings tables for those aircraft.

That’s what I did for the O540-J1A5D and found the PA28-235 and Piper Pawnee have similar engines.

Alternatively, search the Lycoming Operator’s manual and you will find power settings tables there. Some of the graphs are quite convoluted.

Here's a link to the Lycoming performance chart for the O-360 A - C series engines:

https://www.maulepilot.com/lycomingperformance.pdf

I usually cruise at 22/2330 in my MX-7-180 which gives me about 9.5 gph and 95 kts. That's about 68% power.

Go to the Textron Lycoming website, search for O-360 owners manual. The chart is in section 3 of the manual. The book is for several different models, so make sure u get the chart for the O-360-C1F, which should be the engine u have on an MX-7-180B….
