I purchased this Maule in August and I am in love, my family nicknamed her Molly! 100 hours in 4 months. Little embarrassed to ask but my POH and the March 2005 AOPA article state that there are 4 flap settings, -7, 0, 20,& 35 degrees. I actually have a third positive setting this seems spring loaded and may drop to 48-50 degrees. Was this added on the models after the AOPA article and why is it not in the POH?

The Type Certificate Data Sheet for the M4 180V states-
Control surface movements Wing flaps Handle full down -7º +1º
First Notch 0º +1º
Second Notch 20º +3º
Third Notch 35º +3º
Aileron Up 20º +1º Down 20º +1º
Elevator Up 25º +2º Down 21º +1º
Elevator tab Up 11º +3º Down 25º +1º
Rudder Right 21º +1º Left 21º +1º
Rudder tab Right 48º +4º Left 48º +4
On certain aircraft Mod Kit #11 allows for 48 degrees but I did not see M4 180V listed.

Welcome to the Cool Maule world!! I too have a 2007 M4-180V and I only have the flap settings in the manual. Maybe yours was modified. Is it possible that somebody changed the flaps to the M7 flaps at some point?

I will review the aircraft log and paperwork. It definitely has 5 settings.

Sounds like a standard flap ratchet was installed at some point, not something I would be to worried about
