Taildragger Tiedown

Post by Flyhound »

OK, my MX7-180 is hangared when I'm at home, but on the road it often gets tied down outside. I'm good to go with the wing tie downs, but the tail has always been a bugaboo. There is always grease around the edge of the moving plates on the tailwheel and that seems to get all over any tie down I use. Does anybody have a clever way of securing the tailwheel that doesn't get grease all over the rope or nylon strap? Or do you just clean the grease off every time before securing the plane?

I think I remember in an old thread there was a tiedown ring that bolted to the tail spring. Though ABW carried it, but I checked their site and didn't see it.

It is not uncommon to see on C180 or 185's. Personally, I'm still just getting greasy.

Kirk, the eyebolt was discontinued. Not sure why.
I can't remember if I fired six shots, or only five.....
