Carb ice & EGT

Post by realdo »

Sometimes after landing from a glider tow I get 75 RPM less than max. on the following take off, for no apparent reason. Could this be related to carburator ice? Also I'm thinking about installing a single probe Alcor EGT System, but I worry about cracking my exhaust stack, over time, by drilling the hole for the thermocouple. Any suggestion?

get the EGT. drill the hole. i have never seen an exhaust crack at the thermocouple hole.

as for the lower static RPM, maybe because the engine is heat soaked? very hot carb and intake manifold causing a less dense air charge?
