POST UP VIDEO LINKS

Post by Russell461 »

I have a NFlightcam Contour+ and have shot several 1080p HD videos from inside the cockpit (in various planes) and have recently tried some exterior mounts. The stud mount out on the tie-down ring seems to be the best for my camera (vs. strut mount). I tried one mount from the tail wheel spring but the camera moves too much there (have to re-do the mount). I like the tail wheel view and may try to use one of the stabilizer bracket bolts.

Anyway.....I love watching MAULE videos and wondered if there were some more out there ! So post up the links !!!! I have attached my YouTube link for your viewing pleasure.

Merry Christmas !!!

Hey,

I would love to see your videos but the link you posted just takes me to my own Youtube video manager? Can you give us a different link. Also,
I would be very interested in seeing a photo of your stud mount on the tie down ring. I fly a Husky and was going to make a similar mount for a Contour. Maybe I don't have to invent the wheel if you can post a photo of yours.

Thanks,
Joe

Contour+ Surface Mounting Spud

Post by Russell461 »

Here is a shot of the mounting spud that I put on one of the tie-down rings out on the wing. (See Flicker link at the bottom). There is no camera vibration at all when mounted to the spud using this system.

I have the NFlightcam Coutour+ camera, the Windshield Mount (for inside use), and the Waterproof Case ( See http://www.nflightcam.com/ ). In order to mount the waterproof case securely, I had to order a Waterproof Case Adapter (See http://www.filmtools.com/contour-hd-wat ... apter.html ). For some reason, the NFlightcam web site does not even sell the adapter or even mention that you need it if you want to mount the waterproof case using the 1/4" threads on the bottom. The only other way to attach the waterproof case is to use something like the rotating flat surface mount but I wouldn't trust that set-up on the exterior of the plane.

The adapter screws into the case (much like a regular camera mounts to a tripod) and then I use the center part of the windshield mount that attaches to the spud on one end and the ball of the adapter on the other.

I really like the camera and 1080p video but I hate that you have to buy all the parts individually, which really adds up. I bought 2 mounting spuds and would like to mount one on the lower stabilizer front strut bolt but may wait to have David Beaver put it on when I take the plane in for it's new shoes.
