I bought my C203 82" prop from Northwest propeller about 5 years ago. It had been removed from a 182 and was traded in on a different prop. They overhauled it and and sold it to me for $4,500 including a used spinner. So you might check the prop shops for a used prop.

80 inch prop upgrade for M5-210C

Post by JasperNWT »

Yo, from The Great White North!

I have been looking for something like this since I bought a set of Aqua 2400 floats for my 1976 M5-210 in 2005 (GW climb performance not great with stdd 74" prop vs a friends' M4-220 Fr with 82"? prop). I also have a newly acquired set of Aeroski 2800s that suffer from disppointing climb performance, that might benefit from a longer prop.

I am interested in getting further info from Seaplane Maule re the process he used for this modification in Canader (i.e. LSTC, STC, or ?). I have been trying to send a PM to him, but no joy (it won't leave my MaulePilots.org Outbox).

Anyone out there have external contact info for the man (supply by PM Reply)? Or maybe he will see this in broadcast form...

2a34c66 80" prop argument for C210 Use

Post by akholland »

So If a C203 and a C66 are both used on a cessna 180 with a continental o-470R engine, and a C203 has been approved for a Maule io360D engine, then wouldn't by comparison the C66 work as well?

Has anyone tried the C66 for just a runup or high speed taxi to feel for resonance? Anybody wanna loan out a propeller strain guage? :) wish it was that simple

Insight G3 graphic engine monitor has three axis G meter and saves info to a sd card to look at later.

2a34c66 on an io-360-d Continental c210 M4

Post by akholland »

More proof that the IO360D can be ran with a 80" 2a34c66 prop. If a IO-360-C can be ran with either a C66 or a C67 then it stands that so could a IO-360-D which is STC'd for the C67. From what I'm gathering, a C66 is just the older version of the C203 Prop which has been approved on the io-360-d. It's enough to convince me, anyone think this might be enough to convince the FAA?

Continental IO 360 longer prop

Post by driver1 »

Hi all
Does anyone of a copy of a 337 for the 2a34c203 with a 80 inch or 82 inch prop. I am still trying to get it approved for my Maule M-5. I have quite a pile of paperwork that supports the installation on my IO360 DB
but the feds are very cautious and you can't have to much. Thanks
for reading.

low pitch stop C203

Post by akholland »

If you take your 2A34C203 off a 180 to the prop shop, make sure they don't match the low pitch stop to a 10.5 degree cessna 172 io-360 because the 172 only made 190hp at 2600!!!!! Then you'll have to pay AGAIN for a second re-pitch. Reference the ISHAM conversion for the 172 which yields 2800rpm and 210hp. don't quote me, but I believe ISHAM calls for like 9.7 degrees on an 80" so something like a 9.0 degrees is required for an 82".
