Performance weight question

Thinking outing edo 2790 on a 2002 maule m7 235 super rocket, and clue on what the useful load goes to and performance can be expectednwith floats?[/u]

Edo 2790 amphibs can be fitted on the M7 however it is a heavy float compared to the Edo 2500 or Bauman 2750.
There are only a handful of 2790s on Maules.
You will end up with a useful load around 650lbs depending a great deal on the plane and its equipment.

Due the inconvenience of straight floats, I toyed w/ the idea of trading straights for amphibs, but the useful load and insurance costs have always prevented it.

Useful 650 lbs
62 gals Fuel = 372
Pilot = 185
Passenger= 150

Over gross by 57 lbs.


36 Gal fuel= 216 (~ 2hrs w/ 1hr reserve )
Pilot= 185
Passenger = 150

~100 lbs baggage.

My M5-235C on Aqua 2400's is listed on my latest W&B sheet as 890 lb useful. Full fuel as above I am legal to over 200lbs of baggage.

Wow thanks for the replies I really need to re-think this, what's the chances of converting this tricycle gear to a taildragger, it's. A 2002 m7 235 , it looks easy to move the spring gear forward anybody have any experience?

Not worth changeing tri to t/dragger.
Much more economical to sell the one you don't want and buy the one you want.
Welding, skinning, riveting, fabric, different engine mount, different main gear, airframe trusses and mounts, cowl, tailwheel, paperwork, reweigh, hours of labour etc etc etc

If I had edo 2790 floats and converted from maule 235 to the io 540 260 would the useful load go up?

No, it would go down because the 260hp is 12lbs heavier than the 235hp.
