Wheel Pants...Yes or No

Post by Curtis »

I would like to know if wheel pants add any speed value to a M4. If so, how many kts does the half pants ( I have heard them called panties.) add? Is there any DATA supporting the Maule wheel pants on a M4?

No data that I know of, just anscdotal from owners.
Tyres are the draggiest items on a plane, so any teardrop will lessen drag.
The wheel Spats were originally to fit 6.00x6 tyres as on the early M4, then they were adapted/adjusted for the 7.00x6.
I have since seen them adapted to 8.00 but don't know if they help on that size.

No STC is needed as it is on our TC data. The oleo gear is the only one that has the mounting tube attached though and not approved for any spring gear.
