Washing the Maule

Post by handyandy123 »

I was wondering if anyone had any special washing advice for an MT-7-235. What does everyone use to wash theirs? Obviously no pressure washers, but will a standard brush hurt the fabric at all, or are there cleaners you suggest and others to stay away from? Thank you.

When I got my plane at the factory, Nov, 2006, I came away with a bottle of simple green aircraft cleaner.

I use water and a soft brush. If something requires more attention, a damp cloth with nonabrassive waterless hand soap does not seem to harm the wax. It is an easy way to clean an oily belly.

When/if rinsing off with a hose, avoid the wingroot fairings, the air filter and the static air holes.
If the engine has been run before washing, then run it again afterwards as the washing will aid the warm/hot engines cool down and moisture will be drawn through exhaust, intake and crankcase orifices as the internal air contracts.
