I am a french pilot and I own a MX7-235.
Very often I read in topics about "gap seals", en français "bouche-trous",
what is exactly?
I would like see a picture or a drawing.
Thank you for answers.

You may already have them on your M7. It is a wide piece of clear tape that attaches between the elevators and stabilizers. Maule sells the kit for around $60. It is fairly easy to install.
It is one of the more impressive improvements that I have put on my Maule. If you do not have it installed, it is my opinion that you should.

I second that.... a very noticeable improvement in slow speed control after I installed them.... Here's a tip though... don't try to apply the tape dry... put some water in a spray bottle and add a few drops of liquid soap. spray the area where the tape will be attached and then attach the tape.. It will slide around a bit but it will be easier to get the bubbles out and position the tape to go through the gap to the underside of the elevator.. Otherwise you'll for sure get the tape stuck where you don't want it. Let it dry over night and it will be on permanently with no bubbles...

Gap seal
Sounds like the gap seal between the horizontal Stabilizer and elevator was not installed or otherwise missing.
Installing this is very easy and probably the most "bang for your buck ( or franc)" performance increase out there.
Search this BB for Gap Seal and you will find many threads on how to etc.
BTW, good job on the Springboks and better luck next time with the All Blacks.
Cheers,
Tom

MaulePF, sorry I missed you in early july, in La Baule. I would have showed you the gap seal I had mounted on the MX7. She did not have them either when I got her from a Swiss dude.
It is a great mod. You just cannot better spend $ (or EUR) on a mod. Guess that is why it is now standard.
Your elevator authority is incredibly better. Tail stays up at very low speed.
Helps a lot for tkoff and landing, specially 2 wheel landings.
