Post by Smokyray »

If you can't make it to Moultrie and live near TX, here's a fun event with nice folks.

Weren’t last year either. Weather kept me from flying in last year, blown engine this year. That said, Maules are just really underrepresented in STOL comps.

“ That said, Maules are just really underrepresented in STOL comps.”

I would rather go “play” in mine than show off for others. Then again I usually head the opposite direction of the crowds, always have. My Maule just gets me out where few others go.

On Saturday morning I launched for my Zero Dark Thirty dawn patrol and sighted a D-Day livery C-47 heading North. I gave pursuit, joined to up sun route formation and followed him to GLE. The invasion stripes and WW2 history alongside me at sunrise was worth all the effort
I landed, taxied past the evidently still asleep competitors, the few that were awake were staring intently at my M5 like, "uh oh, a Maule is here"
I departed from mid field and continued my enjoyment...so much for organized events!
