2nd Annual Waterbury CT N41 Fly In and Campout

Post by gdflys »

I'd like to invite everyone in the Northeast to our 2nd annual Waterbury (N41) Fly in and Camp out. Scheduled for Oct. 22 - Oct. 24. Fly in and spend a day or the whole weekend camping with other pilots and their families from around New England. Weather permitting we plan to have some fly outs to other grass strips in the area, BBQ, STOL and spot landings, and a 50/50 pumpkin drop. Let me know if you're planning to attend so we can get an idea of how many will be joining in the fun. This will not be Maules only but I'd love to see lots of you there. I already have 4 other Maules committed to attending already.

Up to 6 Maule's and their proud owners have said they are coming now. I just might have to buy some Maule swag and have some prizes for farthest flown in, shortest take off/landing, closest to target pumpkin drop.

WAT Whelen Aerospace Technologies is helping support the event and Waterbury Airport N41 by sending swag and a brand new G3 LED landing light their brightest light yet. We’re expecting some other sponsors and products to add to the raffle and prizes for those who can make it to the event. Please let us know if you plan to attend.

Plane Perfect is also joining the event sponsor list and will be sending some samples as gifts as well as a couple complete kits of their amazing products to be included in the raffle. I personally use most of their product line and they are outstanding. Thanks for their generous support.

For those who haven’t been to N41 before here’s a map of some of the details including the areas that can be soggy after rain. Please avoid those areas. There are some cones marking the area at the approach end of runway 35. Stay to the east side of that area. Make sure you don’t hit the cones landing either direction. Runway 02/20 is shorter and will most likely have planes parked along both sides so runway 17/35 will be the primary runway for takeoffs and landings. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there. If you have any questions please reach out. I’ll be posting the itinerary and additional sponsors for the raffle and competition prizes in the next few days

Another very special thanks to Hangars Cafe at Sky Acres 44N for donating two $25 gift certificates to the Waterbury (N41) Fly In and Camp out this weekend Oct 22-24. Hangars Cafe is one of our favorite stops for a great breakfast or lunch and the airport has some of the cheapest fuel around. The certificates will be another one of the multiple raffle prizes available for all those who join us at the fly in. Don’t miss out. The extended weather forecast is looking good.

Sounds like an awesome weekend for it! I am sorry to be missing it, but I promised my girlfriend I would be flying south that weekend to go see her. If you guys do it again next year I would love to make it out.

Priorities man. She can wait. Just kidding. Sorry we will miss you this year. We hope to make it a yearly event so bigger and better next year.

For those that are coming out to camp. I finally got confirmation that the Gentile's Campground right next to the airport will allow campers to use their bathhouse and coin operated showers. 25 cents per squirt.

Weather forecast is looking pretty good all weekend at this point. My dinning room table is full of swag and prizes for the raffle and competitions. If you are coming Friday to camp I wont be there yet but my plane and tent should be. I have to fly a work trip and get back late. I'll drive back in late Friday night or very early Saturday morning. There will be numerous other campers there Friday to show people around on the fly out and keep an eye on things before dinner and a movie.

If anyone has any immediate questions give me a call. Two O Tree fiv6fiv 5 one one 7

Well we had great weather and an amazing turnout for the fly in this past weekend at Waterbury Airport N41 in CT. There were at least 7 Maules present which was more than any other type. I heard multiple people ask "Where did all these Maules come from?" We managed to get all the planned activities completed: fly outs to other local grass strips, STOL and Spot landing competitions, a pumpkin drop 50/50, aviation movie nights with food, folks, and fun.

43 aircraft
7 Maules
20+ campers
200+ walk/drive ins.

I'll let the pictures do the talking but would love to hear reactions from the Maule drivers who came out too.
