Oil Filter Mounting/Adapter - IO-540 W1A5

Post by BatMaule »

OK. Last minute issue on an engine install...switching from IO-540 W1A5D to W1A5. Oil filter mounting on accessory case is completely different. Does anyone know...do you really have knock a big divot in the firewall to get clearance for the oil filter?! Remote mount is one option, I know. For those with the W1A5, are there any other solutions out there? What does Maule do in the present day?

I just bought a new firewall from Maule - it does have a big dish in it for filter clearance. Personally I like remote mount.
I can't remember if I fired six shots, or only five.....

Remote lets you put it where you would like but.... there are two more hoses to maintain and fail of you don't.

Make sure the filter you use is the dash one 48110-1 whether champion or tempest, as it is 1/2" shorter than the filter with no dash number.
