Great video. Looks like bad country to get stuck in without water! Safety in numbers. More planes and more pilots also helps with conversation around the lunch table. Was this a1 day play date? I didn't see and could of tents of campfires. What were the temperature like?
Por mares nunca dantes navegados - a line from a Potugese poem about exploring the unknown.

.

The Terlingua trip was at Terlingua Ranch (1E2). They have an airstrip, a restaurant (The Bad Rabbit), an office, and 8 quad-plex cabins. That's about it unless you want to ride horses. Each cabin had 2 double beds and were very clean. So no camping this trip. It was still in the 80's and warm. Definitely not a place I would want to be in the summer ! We flew down Friday, had the fly-out Saturday morning, and then flew home Sunday. On Saturday, we flew from Terlingua Ranch to Alpine to Presidio and then back to Terlingua Ranch. Several pasture and creek bed landings in between. Lots of fun with good friends. And you are correct....wouldn't want to do this alone. Way too many place to get lost....forever !

I miss that country sometimes. Mainly in the winter mind you.
You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!

We're any of the Maules from the Sweetwater area? I stopped in Sweetwater for fuel on thursday of that week and the the FBO guy was telling me about a local Maule owner who had discussed going to a fly in at Terlingua.
Curious if it was the same event
