Lone Star Maule Winter Fly-out

Post by Russell461 »

Several of us got together in January for a Texas-style Fly-out & Camp-out. Some came in Friday and others on Saturday. Also invited the local grass strip owner friends to join in the fun.

Saturday AM Breakfast: Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes, OJ & Coffee
Saturday Night Meal: Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sausage, Smoked Baked Beans, Deserts

Enjoy !!

Looks like y'all had a good time, Russell. Wish I could have made it. Would have been fun to tag along. Maybe next time.

Just trying to swell the ranks of aviatrix's Ozy. Only 6% of US pilots are women. I have an understanding with KJ now. I know where his daughter is.

Your choice of music is now blocking play of the video.
They should be flattered! Guess not.....

I couldn't view it on my iPad, due to a music copyright message, but could on the laptop.

Yes Sir Ozy. John R. Armstrong was my father. See http://maulepilots.org/forums/viewtopic ... highlight=. He would have loved to meet all of you Maule Pilots. The Winter Fly-Out was the first time anyone other then myself and one other friend has ever flown into 67TX. I had to give my sister (photo taken on Breezy) time to get comfortable having others come fly in and land on the airstrip...that happens to be right across the pond from her house. She was at peace with it and really enjoyed visiting with everyone. We both know that Dad was smiling down from heaven that weekend. I know he would have wanted me to continue flying and there is no doubt, his accident made me a safer pilot.

A tragic way to lose your dad, so quickly and unexpectedly.
My father got me into aviation as well. He was a gliding instructor and would take me up for the final flight of the day and go through his aerobatic routine when I was about 10. After I lost my wife to cancer in 94, he talked me into going down and joining a fledging gliding club near my area and I haven't looked back. In 2000 I imported a couple of motor gliders, on arrival we uncrated them bolted them up, jumped into one and did a sunset flight, it was his last flight as he died of cancer (which he had been fighting for a few years) a month later. Great memories and inspiration from him I hope I am half the dad he was, all the best mate.
