Maule Fly In Down Under

Post by John Ashcroft »

There are 50 Maules on the Australian Register, surely that enough for a fly in Down Under

I would think so, even I could attend if all 50 got together.

Oops, I was thinking you were Brisbane, that must be Ozy's domain.
You could do a mailout or emailout to all 50 and find a central point to see how many can attend.
It doesnt take any organization, pick a place and date and all show up.

Jeremy
we are in the Adelaide Hills, only an hours flight to the ranges and another hour to the desert. Some great country up there.
I am going to see what response I get to an Aussie fly in.

I think Dave Funnell (M5-235C in Broken Hill) was putting something together.

Broken Hill would be a pretty good location for it, accessible from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and even Hahndorf.

Hi Ben
I hope you are going well. The plane is going well and as yet only looped once when the tail wheel spring broke. I remember you saying you paid a lot for maintenance, my comment would be that if you bought another plane consider having the maintenance done elsewhere.Quite a few of the log entries did not ring true on the aircraft, only little things. One of the engineers who worked on it now works over here and similar stories are emerging from the owners. All that aside the plane really looks good now and almost all of the work is complete, waiting on new doors, opening windows and new seat trim and it will be done. Thee is a current picture under Maule Pictures on this forum.
I have flown it about 50 hours now and am getting used to its quirks, not bad considering it has been in bits for 5 months this year. The big wheels are a real hoot and the VG's and increased flaps have really contributed to its handling.
If you are in Sa anytime give me a call and come out for a fly
Cheers
