I was wondering that as well. I should be there, I made the one in 07 in Montana, and this one is only 40 miles away for me.

Looks like I'll be in Antarctica by then, so I won't make it.

Just a short 3/4 world trip...no problem.

Hope your summer is good down there.

Thanks. Actually, a short project this time; I'll be off the ice by Christmas.

I just left Moultie a few minute ago, it's still a go, but like you said the Wx is supposed to be bad tomorrow, maybe come on in on Sat. might be a better option? Or I bet if you asked Maule would put you inside, I wouldn't want to have my airplane outside tomorrow.

I just arrived it was the only way I could get down here before the weather. there is no one here at this time trying to find a place to camp or set up a cot. there are a lot of empty hangers perhaps I can con someone to let me borrow a space to weather the storm.

Bad weather tomorrow so I'm planning to take off at dawn on Saturday for the 3 hour flight down. Should be there around 10:00am. Are we supposed to land at Spence Field or on Ray & Rautgunde's grass strip?

My Flight to Moultrie & Back

Post by Flyhound »

OK, this was several weeks ago, but it took time to compress 13 hours of flying into a 3.5 minute clip. The Fly-in was on Saturday and Sunday, but things started early on Saturday and that cut me out. Work and lousy weather at my home airport prevented me from flying on Friday, and by the time I flew 576 miles on Saturday I'd missed most of the flying fun. I did make it in time for dinner and story telling around the camp fire that night, That made the trip worthwhile, but I doubt I'll repeat the trip next year unless I can spend as much time on the ground as I do getting there and getting home. I fell short this year. Sigh. Here's my synopsis of the flight down and back:

That was an awesome video, especially the night landing!

I can only imagine the masterpiece you would have made if you were there the whole weekend.

Best...........Rob
