BRENT MAULE to be in Attendance

Post by Russell461 »

Hey guys...we are just one week away from the First Annual Lone Star Maule Roundup in Llano, TX. Several of us will arrive at Llano by Noon on Friday 5/10 so we can go get our Coopers BBQ Fix for lunch.

Brent Maule himself will be joining us for the weekend and bringing some surprises.... You don't want to miss this event !!! If you have not already signed up (initial Post in this Thread), please let me know so I can provide the best head count for the hamburger lunch on Saturday.

Saturday night is MOVIE NIGHT (with popcorn and adult beverages). We will show pictures & videos that were shot during the day and possibly some Maule Factory tour / plane videos as well.

This is going to be fun.......

Just to clearify: the popcorn will be provided but the adult beverages are BYOB (at least this time around, we'll see how it goes for future events) so pre-flight accordingly or run in to town during the day.

Just saw a picture of Coopers. Looks like honest to god texas BBQ! I wish I could get there early enough on Friday to join the lunch crew, but it looks like I'll get there more like four or five.

I was excited to see the Texas Maule Roundup. Can't make this year due to Airline work but have a great time, bring it back next year. Post some pictures guys.
I'm new to the Maule community and can't wait to hear about it

HEADS UP on a TFR at Austin during the fly in

Post by Wyflyer »

I received this today, wanted to push it out since Austin is near the Llano area and this may affect your flight planning.

FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER AUSTIN, TX ON THURSDAY
A NOTAM has been issued that will restrict flight in the area during President Obama's planned visit.

Brent and I should get there around 2ish. However if the weather in denver or enroute looks iffy. I will be airlining in and we will most likely be in this:

and we won't get there till even later. but if the weather works out we will see you just after lunch.

WEATHER UPDATE

Post by Russell461 »

Weather Update: Several have inquired about the forecast for the weekend. We have been watching it closely and it has gradually improved over the last few days. Obviously, we would like it to be PERFECT but that may not be the case. Right now...it appears the Friday night campers may get a little wet (unless we pitch our tents in an empty T-Hangar Laughing ) but Saturday is looking a bit better. Presently 70% chance of NO RAIN OR TS's on Saturday (ok 30% chance of rain / TS's but I'm an optimist).

If at all possible, the event will not be postponed. Saturday is the KEY day and when most will fly in. Sunday looks great. It is our plan to take another look at the weather Thursday night or Friday morning and make the final call so check back late Thursday or Friday (early) to this post.

I know of 6 aircraft that are planning on coming in on Friday:

Armstrong
Pace
Jerry Jamieson
Joe Borden
Rich Wellner
Patrick Romano (with Brent Maule)

I am trying to confirm available hangar space for Friday night and will let you know. Any others coming in Friday ?

Maule on the way

Post by Wyflyer »

My Maule is on the way, the ferry pilot left Minnesota this morning. He stopped in Bartlesville Ok for the night, will come the rest of the way tomorrow.
If he gets in here tomorrow we'll do some dual tomorrow evening or friday morning and get to know the ship. I plan to fly to the Fly In on saturday if everything works out and the weather cooperates.

I didn't plan this purchase around the fly in but it's working out well.
See you then, (I hope)

Couldn't ask for better timing!

I was originally going to come down with the group on Friday but a change in plans has me heading down on Saturday instead, y'all save some BBQ for us!

If anyone else is coming from the DFW area Saturday morning and wants to join up along the way let me know.
