Any interst in getting an end of season Maule fly-in to a back country strip somewhere? I was thinking the Beluga Lake strip as there is plenty of parking/camping room. Just a thought.... Winter is coming!

I was just planning on an informal kind of thing. Beluga Lake is close to Anchorage for those who don't want to camp or for those who it will be too cold... Not really set on a location. Anyone have any beter ideas? What dates work best for people?

No need to wait on wheels! Beluga is a great floatplane lake!

I'd come over for the day. End of the month works for me.

I would be interested. Beluga would be good for ducks if the timing is right. For those who like, there is a little strip on the river a few miles up at Olson Good practice for tight place with plenty of length. I go in with my '68 M-4 no problem. Earlier in the season it's great silver fishing but a few griz try to steel from you.

Well, that is five of us! Anyone else? The end of the month has been suggested. Any other date preferences? The weather is only going to get cooler the longer we wait!

I'm a new Maule owner and on floats and would like to meet more Maule owners. I can make it for the day at the end of the month.

I've seen lots of aircraft on floats at Beluga! So the consensus is the 24th and 25th of this month? Weekend after next?

I won't get back to town until the 27th so I couldn't make it until the end of the month. Although this time of year, I hate to see us pass up any weekend with decent weather.

Anyone have the coords for the Beluga and Olson strips?

Latitude: 61.4008333 - Longitude: -151.5922222. That is the lake address. It is about 45 minutes west of Anchorage and is near the base of Mt. Spurr. If you fly over the lake, the strip is on the alluvial fan of the river draining the glacier. The strip is very obvious and will be hard to miss.

Unfortunately, the zoom photos are winter and you can't see the strip! The strip is on the northwest corner of the lake.
