Floats

Considering putting my 2006 MT 7-260 on amphibs. Any thoughts, recommendations, comments? Thanks.

IF you can find them EDO 2790 are a good float (although they add some weight you get a 2750 max gross up from 2500) and have good parts availability and documentation. Otherwise (again if you can find them or wait) Wipline 3000 are really nice and a bit more expensive. You will need to learn how to land a shopping cart (4 wheels) and you no longer can use 48 degrees of flaps. Don't forget the other odds and ends you need on the plane.

Do you already have the rear float fittings on your tubing? There are also some reinforcement tubes that attach to the tubing behind the panel. Lift rings on the wing tops make it easier to service the floats too. You'll need a ventral fin to counter yaw. Useful load will decrease due to the weight of the floats. You will probably make it a 3 person rather than 4 person airplane. I'm partial to the Wipline 3000 floats but they are more expensive.
