What Is That Red Thing?

Post by belandd »

On the M 6 there is a red cylinder connected in the down cable of the flaps.

It is located right behind the cargo compartment bulkhead.

The flap cable from it back to the flap handle seems to be verry loose.

What is this cylinder for and how tight should that cable be?

i believe that is the spring cartridge that does not allow full deflection of the flaps (48*) until airspeed has slowed to ......55ish??? not sure on the specific speed.

someone else will have to chime in with the correct way to test it for proper tension.

That makes sense.

so how tight should the cable from the bottom of the spring cartridge to the flap handle be?

The entire flap cable is tensioned to 60 lbs w/ a tolerance of 10.

At that tension, it's not even close to compressing that spring.
