Charging battery in MX7 180A

Anything wrong w/ using a Battery tender to charge up the battery (Concorde) after the cold winter months? Any suggestions on proper procedure for doing this? Can it be done in the airplane w/ master switch off?

Have done it with the cowl on through the dip stick hole.... and yes master off.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll most likely do it w/ cowl off just to inspect as well for any mechanical issues after the winter downtime.
