M5 Flaps Deflect up in flight

Post by dhc2daddy »

I noticed that when I deploy the flaps on my M5 in flight they don't seem to come down to the appropriate angle. When on the ground I notice considerable upward deflection in the flaps when deployed and then pushed "up" My mechanic doesn't have an answer... surely someone on here has had this problem before. Weve checked for a cable off a pulley but that doesn't seem to be it.

ive read that thread and it seems like the bell crank bushings are a likely culprit. I suspect im getting at least 10 degrees of deflection.

Thanks for the insight

If you pull the inspection covers, you can have some apply pressure to the flaps and look to see what is moving. Also check the bracket that the bell crank pivots in. I have always though those could use a flat tab welded to the top or bottom to make them stiffer.
No great story started with a good idea...
