Aileron Trim?

Post by netconn »

Has anyone installed or have aileron trim on their Maule? Seems like it would be useful. With unbalanced fuel or some wind blowing from one side or the other I'm usually putting some right or left pressure on the yoke.

Just more weight and complexity. I wish we didn’t have rudder trim! Les

When I first bought my 1986 MX-7-180, it had a manual trim tab on the left aileron. Maule Flight removed it when they rebuilt the airplane in 2010. It was probably rigged wrong prior to that. If flies level now unless one fuel tank has more fuel than the other.

You have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming a pilot. You can't do both!

That’s an interesting option. Seems easy enough to install. Would be my next choice over full on autopilot. Cheap to boot.

I’m amazed as long as that product has been around that I have never heard of it. Has anyone installed one on a Maule with its rudder trim interconnected system?

Going to ask again. Has anyone ever used the Aero Trim on a Maule? I ask as Mog made an interesting point. How beneficial would in be in a Maule without an autopilot

I've gotten some bad Pireps from prior users of this, they say it's junk. Maybe that's why no one has heard of it. But I do like the idea of having an aileron trim.

Since the Maules respond better to rudder than aileron just tweet the rudder trim a little. If that consistently leaves your ball hanging out very much then you need a little wing rig.
