Wing Strut Bottom Fairings

Post by Andy Young »

Has anybody done a speed comparison with the bottom wing struts removed vs. installed?

I just installed new Airframes Alaska steel wing struts. The rears are wider than the originals, so my old fairings won’t fit. I’m trying to decide if I should bother making new ones.

Related to this, does anybody who has the Airframes struts happen to have a pattern for the bottom fairing? It’d be easy enough for me to make, but if someone already has one, I’d happily skip that step.

Thanks
Andy

I’d say it’s negligible. I took mine off and never reinstalled. But that’s relative to the rest of my draggy airplane.
