96 mx7 160 Flaps

Post by Gunnygoat »

I am the new owner of a 1996 mx7 160.
It seems that the 48 degree setting has been locked out with a nut and bolt on my airplane. What would be the reason for this?

Looking in the TCDS. Mod kit #11 allows for 48 degree flaps on MX7-160. Didn't have time to look at my records to see what that involves. Give Maule a call.

I cannot comment on the MX7 160, but I believe that some Cessna mods require locking out the highest flap setting. If I remember correctly there is a gross weight increase for a Cessna 172 that requires you limit flaps to max 30 degrees rather than 40. The later 172 only had 30 anyways. It had to do with climb performance on a go around at gross weight. I Have no clue why yours are locked out, could be something along those lines. I know someone that has a 160 I will try to reach out and see what his is setup like.
No great story started with a good idea...

Yes Mod Kit 11 lists MX7-160 for 48 flap mod:

Apparently, we can’t even view the mod kits now without going through ATP Manuals though. So I guess you can call Maule or pay ATP for access. 😩

Wow if LT4247 is correct , so much for the last family owned aircraft manufacturer left . Maybe my perspective on this is wrong but it seems Maule is distancing and abandoning itself from us. First the Sensenich fixed pitch prop spinner ( that the original manufacturer subcontractor was willing to make in batches of 10-12 that Maule management refused to work with at less than $400 per set of 3 pieces [ front and rear plates and the spinner] ). Then manuals went to these ATP shysters. Now seems that they don't want to talk to us any more.

Guess they'll wish had thought differently when we all go experimental, then again maybe they won't care about that ether

You'll still get better support at a better price than anywhere else.
