Hi, I've done some searching but can't find what I'm looking for...
I have an M4 with non-opening windows. I got pricing from Maule for the gas strut pop out window kits from Maule. Can anyone tell me in more detail what the installation involves? Is it fairly straight forward or is there extensive fabrication to the door required? I have a good airframe shop here who could do it, but I'm trying to judge how much manhours its going to take (and whether I get one or two kits...or just forget about it for now).
Thanks!

Do your windows open currently? If not you will have to build a frame and such before you can use the strut kit. The opening windows are fairly simple in design.

So you will need to either get the drawings and build the window set or have Maule build the window frames. You will still have to do a fair bit of work to fit and finish it all. It’s very simple work either way but you will need some fabrication skills or friends with those skills.

Hello FlyingBC,
I got the left swing-out kit from Maule a few years ago, I am just installing it now. I did the new door latches first, went well, they provide a jig to drill the holes accuratly for the new bracket. I'll get you photos as I proceed over the next few days. The kit comes with square tubing that must be trimmed and welded. Carl

Thank you for the details! Might have to wait a while as it looks like a project I’ll need some fabrication help with (ie. $$). Engine monitor higher on the priority list!

Re: Pop-out window installation
Hey FlyingBC, Did I say a few days?? I am also doing an engine monitor. I am currently leaning toward the CGR30 with new fuel gauges....you?
I once worked as a welder and managed to weld the pop-out window frame. The directions and fit were good. The assembly drawings are ok, but no detailed procedure is provided in the kit. Some parts are not the same as indicated on the drawings, but these can be (mostly) deciphered. Before I proceed, I would like to enlist some help.....
I’d like to confirm the drawings of the cross-sections that I have labeled below as fact. Could someone with pop-out windows please share a photo of the top and bottom sections of the window? Close to the top piano hinge and bottom lock? I am having a bit of difficulty reading into those compressed drawings. The strips with part # 9110F-26 are listed as 9109B-2 in the provided drawings, so I will assume these are the striker plate. The directions to install the piano hinge as per Service Bulletin # 26 were also provided in the kit.
